The benefits of Russian sauna for athletes.

Many athletes note the positive influence of the steam bath on their condition after workouts. In this article, we will briefly examine some processes that bring huge benefits to athletes and learn how they affect the body.

Numerous sports experts and doctors discuss the benefits of sauna and steam baths, emphasizing their positive role in preparation for competitions and their indirect influence on achieving results and progress. This is how the sauna helps in this:

  1. Tempering: Different temperature regimes help strengthen blood vessels, boost immunity, and make athletes more resistant to respiratory viral infections, reducing the likelihood of colds.

  2. Reduction of lactic acid: High temperatures help remove residual lactic acid from muscles, which can cause pain after intense workouts.

  3. Reduction of cortisol: The high temperature in the sauna also helps reduce cortisol levels, the main hormone combating anabolism, which helps avoid feelings of fatigue and overtraining.

  4. Recovery: Sauna is recommended for deep relaxation and recovery. The elevated temperature helps relax muscles, improves blood flow to damaged muscles, and promotes their rapid regeneration. In addition to physical benefits, the sauna also helps alleviate emotional tension.

It is preferable to visit the sauna not immediately after training, but after some time, or the next day after competitions, and never go to the gym immediately after the sauna to avoid negative consequences.
